Sobeys Summer Camp offers opportunities for children ages 5-12 from all socioeconomic backgrounds to enjoy full days of themed activities in a supportive and inclusive environment. Each week will feature indoor and outdoor play, art & crafts, & the chance to try new recreational activities. We focus on all aspects of recreation while team building and encouraging activities that promote wellness, diversity, and inclusion.

Week 1 - Movement Week: Kids will have fun discovering open chain movements and how it creates strength, flexibility, and sense of balance. Martial arts, Yoga, Tai chi, and cycling will be some of the ways they learn and grow.
Special Guest: Rouge 101 Taekwondo

Week 2 - Arts & Culture Week: Kids will have the opportunity to explore art and culture through dance, learning to bead, macrame, and Indigenous games.
Special Guest: Vesna Dancers

Week 3 - Observation Week: Have you ever wondered what makes you float? This week we learn about things in our environment and observe through doing fun experiments. This will include water play, chemical reactions, and fun with colour.
Special Event: Swimming at Stride

Week 4 - Mindfulness Week: During this week kids will get the chance to experience calm when participating in mindfulness activities such as meditation, gardening, hiking, and creating fun positive rock messages to hide for our community. Come find your inner Zen.
Recreational Activity: Yoga

Week 5 - Nature Week: Get out and explore nature and all her glorious gifts. Discover how clay is made, make unique creations, build a bug hotel, meet a beekeeper, and learn about honey.
Special Activity: Cricket

Week 6 - Leisure & Craft Week: To be or not to be… During Leisure week we dive into the world of books and investigate our local library. Kids will also learn about and try fun hobbies like making an instrument, as well as creating different crafts with multiple mediums such as wool, wood and paper.
Special Guest: Portage Conservatory of Music

Week 7 - Adventure Week: Kids will enjoy team building games that challenge them like minute to win it, bowling, even some rock climbing at the RecPlex.
Special Event: Southport RecPlex

Week 8 - Beyond Infinity Week: Save the best for last… for the final week, kids will enjoy making balloon-powered space rover, rockets and geo-boards constellation, learning moon phases, and watch a space themed movie.
Special Activity: Movie
