Charity Yard Sale in support of Bicycles for Success - a program to raise funds to provide reliable and affordable transportation to youth entering the workforce. The Portage Work Experience Program has helped hundreds of youth by providing up to 4 weeks of paid pre-employment training as well as 10-16 weeks of work experience placement with local employers. A majority of the PWEP participants come from low or no-income situations and cannot afford to get their license, or if they have a license, they cannot pay for a vehicle and costs such as registration, insurance, and fuel. Bicycles are not only the most affordable solution, but environmentally friendly, and provide a healthy way to travel to and from work. By providing bicycles to our program participants, we can help them overcome transportation barriers and increase their chances of success in the workforce.
