It’s the Portage & District Arts Centre's 15th season partnering with TIFFs’ Film Circuit to bring the best of Canadian and world cinema to Portage la Prairie. We provide filmgoers an opportunity to see films that may not otherwise be available in this region. Reel Event raises money to help support our programming. The remaining screenings will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Prairie City Cinema on March 20, and April 17. Season passes are available for purchase at the Art Centre's Gift Shop for $48. You can also buy a ticket at Prairie City Cinema on the day of the film for $10.

Synopsis
Russ Sheppard (Ben Schnetzer) is a young teacher who has just moved to Kugluktuk, Nunavut — a community that had one of the highest suicide rates in North America in 1998, when the film is set. When it comes to Russ’s attention that one of his students, Kyle (Booboo Stewart), is using the school storage bins to seek refuge from his abusive father, Russ decides to start an after-school lacrosse program in an attempt to offer his students a safe space.
