Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Between 8 and 16 people with different chronic health problems, or people who are supporting someone with a chronic condition, attend together, to deal with the common issues they face and to motivate each other with solutions and techniques for:
• Dealing with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation.
• Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance.
• Appropriate use of medications.
• Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals, and engaging with other community resources.
• Maintaining appropriate nutrition.
