FAMILIAR PLACES

Portage la Prairie – Please join us for the opening reception of Familiar Places by John Nielsen on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 pm, in the Main Gallery at Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment (www.prairiefusion.ca). Familiar Places by John Nielsen will be on display in our Main Gallery from November 5 to December 14. Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment is located in the William Glesby Centre at 11-2nd Street NE in Portage la Prairie.
Since 1990, John has been experimenting with different styles and subject matter in his artistic practice. John has been involved with the Portage la Prairie art scene for a number of years. He is an active volunteer at Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment working with the Exhibition Installation Committee. About five years ago John decided to do a series of paintings of his hometown, Portage la Prairie. Some of his subjects will be easily recognized while others might only be familiar to residents of various neighbourhoods. This series has been a learning experience for John, encouraging him to look closer at things previously taken for granted.
